Show us the math, says the Wilmington City Council. Members are not ready to fork over almost $40,000 to help the county maintain the soccer complex on the old Flemington landfill. Council members have concerns about overburdening city taxpayers.
Councilman Charlie Rivenbark has pushed this issue, saying the city needs to review how it enters into paying agreements with the county because city residents pay both county and city taxes. He says any 50-50 split of pay on projects between the city and county means the city residents are paying more. He requested the agenda item be moved off the consent agenda so members could discuss it.
