City Looks to Jack Up Convention Center Room Rates

This is when we literally have one event booked there a month.

This wasn't voted on, but I think there's still cause for concern, as the council typically says yes to whatever is in front of it.

City Council:
Attached for your consideration is a resolution modifying the existing room rental rate at the Wilmington Convention Center (05ED10) for rooms 106, 107 and 108 when these rooms are combined for use as a single meeting space.

[...]In reviewing the rate approved in July 2009 it became apparent that the rate currently in the rate schedule is inconsistent with the rate charged for similarly sized rooms.

[...][T]he rental rate for rooms 106, 107 and 108 at the Wilmington Convention Center when combined to make one meeting room [should be] changed from the current fee of $850 to $1,100.
And how much does it cost to book the main space there?
First Priority Events (1,200 or more hotel room nights in New Hanover County): $3,500 per show day.

Second Priority Events (500 or more cumulative hotel room nights in New Hanover County): $4,500 per show day.
Now, how many "first priority events" have there been? One? The Republican convention?
