Ron Sparks on the CFPUA's Tiered Rate Structure

Tsk, tsk. Ron Sparks seems to think it's ok to have a tiered rate structure that penalizes families, apartment owners and many businesses.

If you want to raise revenue, Ron, why don't you look into the salaries of the employees who work there?

Before the city and county systems merged, the joint salaries of the people working within the water and sewer departments were $12.5M a year. Now it's $17.7M.

Wilmington City Councilman Ron Sparks, who also serves on the board, agreed with Smith. He said it might not be wise to change the rate structure in the same year the board has to increase rates.
